The Importance of Water

You have been told over and over to drink more water. Why? The human body is made up of 60% water and replenishing water on hot summer days, or after a vigorous work out is necessary to maintain the body’s homeostasis.

Each morning, just after waking and before brushing your teeth or showering, you should drink (actually guzzle down) 12oz to 16oz of room temperature water. Doing this each morning will flush your entire system and will keep waste from building up in the intestines and keep your body detoxed daily. Constipation will be a thing of the past. In addition, the water will aid in digestion, circulation, absorption, and hydration of all the cells in the body. It will plump your skin—the largest organ in the body. Water gives you a radiant, healthy, younger looking complexion and helps diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The more dehydrated the skin, the older the skin looks. You may end up having to empty your bladder more frequently until your body gets used to the morning flush, but in the long run your body will function better. Sipping on 20oz of cold water throughout the day does not have the same effect. You definitely want to guzzle to get your system to flush and detox. You should always continue to drink water during the day, but don’t over do it. Too much water can tax the kidneys and cause you to lose valuable nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that your body needs. Never drink distilled water. The body needs the minerals that water contains. You can drink filtered water just leave it on the counter so it’s always at room temperature.
